Hello Friends!
I’ve missed you, but Memorial Day deserves a newsletter all its own. Take this long weekend to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed all for our freedom. We’ll catch up on everything else next week!
Memorial Day began after the Civil War as a way to honor and remember soldiers who lost their lives while serving our country. Originally called “Decoration Day,” families and communities would decorate the graves of fallen soldiers with flowers and flags.
Over time, the holiday expanded to honor all American military members who died in service. Today, Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May and serves as both a day of remembrance and the unofficial start of summer.
Take a moment this Memorial Day to pause, reflect, and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for our country and freedom.

Memorial Day Weekend Around
Bay Area, Houston
If you’re staying close to home this weekend, there are plenty of things going on around Texas City, Kemah, League City, Webster, Seabrook, and the surrounding Bay Area, Houston communities.
In Seabrook, the annual “Remembering Our Fallen” ceremony will take place at the Bay Area Memorial on Memorial Day morning. It’s a meaningful event honoring local heroes and those who served our nation.
League City will be hosting a Memorial Day Ceremony. They also have free weekend swimming from May 23–25, making it a great option for families looking to cool off and kick off summer fun.
Kemah Boardwalk is expected to be packed with visitors enjoying waterfront dining, rides, live entertainment, and sunshine along the bay. If you plan to head that way, go early and expect holiday crowds all weekend long.
Around the area, you’ll also find local restaurants hosting live music, patio parties, crawfish boils, and drink specials throughout the weekend. It’s one of the unofficial starts to summer in Bay Area Houston.
If you’re looking for a slower pace, Seabrook’s waterfront parks and trails offer beautiful sunset views and relaxing coastal vibes just minutes from home.
However, you spend the holiday weekend — at the beach, on a boat, around the grill, or attending a memorial ceremony — take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who gave everything for our freedom.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, and enjoy the long weekend, Bay Area Houston.
