Galveston Bay Buzz!

Hello Bay Area, Houston! This past week was hectic, and part of it was because I decided to be a last-minute shopper. In 2026 I’m making a goal to do my Christmas shopping early!

This warm weather in December has my northern roots confused—Just when I’m ready to cozy up by the fire, I have to turn on the AC. I’ve been in Texas for over 16 years, and I still haven’t adapted to this crazy, bi-polar weather that comes to visit every winter!

On Christmas Day this past week, everything slowed down as our house filled with family, laughter, and way too much food. I hope each and every one of you was able to slow down, take a deep breath from the daily hustle and bustle, and spend quality time with those closest to your heart.

In 2026, we’re excited to feature local photos captured by our subscribers. If you’re a local photographer or have a newsletter-worthy shot—submit your photos for a chance to be featured in our weekly newsletter. [email protected]

Clear Lake & Beyond Spotlight

Are you hungry for something unique? This week’s social media reveal is Pho Barr, and they have a dish you didn’t know you needed! Start with their Spring Rolls for an appetizer, then order a Banh Mi and the Pho Barr Ultimate Fries- Beef. Trust me, the Ultimate Fries are the must-try, can’t-miss dish you didn’t know you needed. The combination of the Banh Mi and Ultimate Fries are dangerously delicious.

The Bakehouse in Friendswood is a hidden gem. It’s an adorable Artisan Bakery with friendly, inviting staff who are there to greet you when you walk in the door. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick breakfast or lunch, picking up a fresh loaf of sourdough bread (which is amazing), indulging in a delicious pastry, or grabbing a gigantic cookie, this spot has you covered.

When I moved to Texas, I was surprised by how many donut shops were everywhere. Now when I’m craving a donut, I’m looking for something unique, and Parlor Doughnuts has that perfect uniqueness. Somewhere between a flaky croissant and a donut lives Parlor Doughnuts. It’s the kind of donut shop you’ll find yourself going back to again and again. If you haven’t tried them yet, do yourself a favor and head over there before the end of the year, before the calories start counting.

Clear Lake & Beyond Developments

Paris Baguette in Webster opened last month, and they are set up like a Panadería (Mexican Bakery). If you’ve never been to one, let me explain. When you walk in, grab a tray and some tongs—this is very important. Then you slowly wander around, using the tongs to carefully select every pastry your heart desires, while pretending you only came in for one. At this bakery, the tongs are basically a pastry magnet. You think you’re in control, but in reality, you’re not. They do offer more than just addicting pastries, so stop by soon and check them out.

Have you been to the Flyaway area recently? There are new developments popping up and so many exciting things coming in the future. Earlier this month it was announced that Sunset Amphitheater is coming to Webster with a maximum capacity of 12,500 people. We can say goodbye to Houston traffic and hello to entertainment right at home, in our backyard.

Slick City Action Park has announced that a new park is in development near NASA, and this one isn’t just for the kids, it’s for the big kids too. Other locations offer an adults-only night once a month, so let’s hope this new spot brings the same kind of fun our way. Fingers crossed! 🤞I will keep my eyes and ears on this new development.
