Galveston Bay Buzz!

We’re so glad you’re here! This newsletter is your go-to source for what’s happening right in your own backyard. You won’t find politics or crime here — just the news that matters to our community, the stories that bring us together, and the local hidden gems that make us unique.
Texas City Spotlight
Texas City is where the Gulf meets grit and charm. It’s where the hum of the port and industrial plants gives way to the calm of the Texas City Dike at sunset. This coastal city has a history of industrial growth and devastating disasters, but one thing has never changed: The strength of the community that holds it together.
The Dolphin Reveal: The Texas City Dike sits on the easternmost edge of the city and stretches five miles into the mouth of Galveston Bay. As you drive out, you’ll see fishermen lined along both sides of the roadway. It’s a calming and peaceful drive—with the windows down, the music turned up, and the coastal breeze hitting your neck.
You will need to drive all the way to the end of the Dike to see the wild dolphins. Find a place to park, then walk toward the rocks at the farthest point. From there, you can watch wild dolphins jumping through the waves, and if you listen closely, you can hear them breathe as they surface for air.
This quiet coastal gem is the perfect reminder to step away from the busy pace of life, slow down, and enjoy the simple beauty around us. If you head out to see the wild dolphins, don’t be surprised if you find me on the rocks, quietly listening to hear the wild dolphin’s breath.
