Galveston Bay Buzz!

We’re so glad you’re here! This newsletter is your go-to source for what’s happening right in your own backyard. You won’t find politics or crime here — just the news that matters to our community, the stories that bring us together, and the local hidden gems that make us unique.
Each week, we’ll spotlight one or two cities in Bay Area Houston and give you the monthly buzz — with local places to try, hidden gems we discover, and future developments. 🐝
Sit back with your morning coffee and let us share the good vibes right from our own backyard — from Clear Lake to Kemah, League City, Seabrook, and Texas City.
A Graceful Welcome to Winter
Breathe in the scent of winter every time you come home.
At A Seasonal Porch, we design and deliver handcrafted garlands made from fresh cedar and fir, creating natural displays that bring warmth, nostalgia, and winter charm to your porch. Order now for delivery after Thanksgiving.
League City Spotlight
The cold air kissed my nose Saturday morning as I set out to explore a small corner of the world. Quietly tucked between the bay and the bustle, League City has that just-right blend of small-town feel, country heart, and city vibe. Slow down, breathe, and look around — this city is full of character and charm.
The Bookstore Reveal: If you blink, you might miss Schroeder's Book Haven, a quaint little bookstore tucked away in the historic district, inside a renovated 1911 house.
Venture a little farther down the street and you’ll find a cute yellow house with a hidden gem inside — Natural Living Co-op & Cafe.
If you look across the street, you’ll see League Park (featured in my recent social media post)— shaded by gorgeous oak trees. Tucked quietly beneath their branches is SoulFreak, a quirky little coffee shop with the most amazing Chicken Pot Pie Empanada.
League City Developments
As of Tuesday, November 4, 2025, a portion of the Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside Trail will be closed for several months for repairs under the Bay Area Boulevard bridge along Magnolia Creek. Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside Trail Closure.
Hines Acquires 1,500 Acres In League City to create a new community with 2,700+ homes, commercial space, and a new school site within Clear Creek ISD. The neighborhood will feature a resort-style pool, clubhouse, and 400 acres of parks and trails. The first lots are expected to be ready in late 2027, with home construction beginning in early 2028.
This isn’t League City, but it’s close — so I have to share. Webster is getting an IKEA! The store is officially in the works and plans to open in 2026. Swedish meatballs, cinnamon rolls and chocolate… here I come! 🐝🐝
Farmers Market Guide 🐝
My happy place is at a farmers market, surrounded by the comforting smells of warm bread, sweet local honey, and that perfect cup of locally roasted coffee. The samples? They’re better than Costco on sample day.
There’s no better way to stay local and support local than by visiting your neighborhood farmers market.
